Historical identifications
Writing Historical Identifications is an opportunity to gather short bits of evidence and analysis that you will be later able to insert into your essays. This process combined with making timelines, helps you see the cause and effect relationship in history.
The "identification" is the name, place and time of an event, person, idea. In identifying your ID, be sure to put the event in context of the time period you are studying.
The "significance" part of the ID is where you write what impact that event has on the period, how it will influence or effect the future. Often the significance also includes a bit about why this event happened, i.e. how did past events lead to this history you are reading.
Take events and put them in chronological order to see the cause and effect elements of each event.
